A Longtime Love of Oak Cliff

Marie

Marie

VNA Meals on Wheels client Marie is a steadfast, spunky presence in her Oak Cliff neighborhood. Marie has lived in Oak Cliff since the 1960s, and it’s where she raised her family and owned a thriving craft store and cafeteria in the Jefferson Shopping Center. As an accomplished cook, Marie especially enjoys the chicken and rice and hamburger meals offered by VNA Meals on Wheels!

Marie has always found a way to give back to the community she loves. As a longtime Oak Cliff resident, she previously led prayer groups with her church ministry and prepared meals for the homeless. Marie is especially close to her granddaughter, Jordan, who is a special presence in her life. She helped spark Jordan’s interest in volunteering and fondness for animals.

When Marie snuggles with her three dogs—Bentley, Luke and Cha-cha—her eyes immediately light up. Marie’s furry companions have been constant sources of love and comfort, and she has utilized VNA’s Pet Care Program to offset the often costly expenses associated with animal care. To help with her pets, Marie receives supplemental pet food each month through VNA, which has played a vital role in nourishing her dogs. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Marie has benefited from the support of her loving family and the warm, nutritious food delivered by VNA staff and volunteers.

It’s inspiring to learn about people like Marie, who has given back to her community her entire life. By supporting VNA through a gift in your estate plan, you ensure that Marie and many others—including their beloved pets—get the nutrition and support they need to thrive.
